DHL Express Plugin for WooCommerce: Rates, Pickup Points, Labels and Tracking

SmartyParcel is a logistics platform with a WooCommerce plugin that connects your store to DHL Express. Install it, add a sender and your DHL Express credentials — and the plugin takes over the routine: a DHL pickup point picker and a live shipping rate at checkout, a ready-to-print DHL shipping label in one click and parcel statuses right inside your WooCommerce orders. DHL Express is a door-to-door express courier service covering over 220 countries and territories, so it is the method you switch on for cross-border orders while a local carrier keeps handling domestic ones. In the same plugin you can also enable Nova Post, Nova Global, Ukrposhta, Meest, GLS, InPost, PostNord and Rozetka Delivery.

How to connect DHL Express to WooCommerce?

To start shipping orders with DHL Express from your WooCommerce store, you need three simple steps.

Install and activate the SmartyParcel WooCommerce plugin

Install the free plugin from WordPress.org in Plugins → Add New and activate it in your WordPress admin.

Connect the plugin to your SmartyParcel account

Create a SmartyParcel account, generate an access key and paste it into the plugin settings to link your store.

Enable DHL Express and add it as a WooCommerce shipping method

Add your DHL Express API credentials, enable the carrier and add DHL Express to the shipping zones where you sell internationally.

DHL Pickup Point Picker at WooCommerce Checkout

A large share of European shoppers prefer to collect an order from a point near home or work instead of waiting for a courier. The plugin adds a DHL pickup point picker directly to your WooCommerce checkout page, so the customer searches the map and chooses the exact location in a couple of clicks — which points are available depends on the DHL network in the destination country.

At checkout your customers can choose:

  • A DHL pickup point near home or work
  • Courier delivery to a home or office address, anywhere DHL Express goes
  • A different carrier, if you have several shipping methods enabled in the same zone

The selected point is saved with the order, so the data is already correct when the DHL shipping label is created — no manual clean-up and no parcels sent to the wrong location. Fewer failed deliveries, fewer "which point did I pick" tickets, and a checkout that looks familiar to international buyers.

Create and Print DHL Express Shipping Labels from WooCommerce

Stop retyping order data into the carrier's cabinet. The plugin pulls customer and order details straight from WooCommerce and turns them into a ready-to-print DHL shipping label, so creating a label takes a couple of clicks instead of several minutes of copying between two browser tabs.

Single-order label

Open any order and generate its DHL Express label on the spot — sender, recipient, address or selected pickup point, weight and dimensions are filled in automatically from the order data, so there is nothing left to copy by hand.

Bulk label printing

Select a batch of orders and print DHL Express labels for all of them at once. For a store dispatching dozens or hundreds of parcels a day this turns an hour of routine into a couple of minutes before the courier arrives.

The same plugin creates labels for Nova Post, Nova Global, Ukrposhta, Meest, GLS, InPost, PostNord and Rozetka Delivery, so a mixed order queue — domestic and international — is processed in one place.

DHL Express Shipping Rates and Zones in WooCommerce

International shipping is where a flat fee hurts most: a guessed rate either scares the buyer away or eats the whole margin on a heavy parcel. With DHL Express connected, the plugin calculates the cost for that specific shipment — weight, dimensions and destination country included — and shows it at checkout.

DHL shipping rates in WooCommerce mean:

  • Separate shipping zones for domestic and cross-border delivery, each with its own rules
  • Different costs for pickup point collection and courier delivery, calculated automatically
  • Rates based on your own DHL Express contract instead of a rounded-up flat fee
  • One plugin handling shipping calculation for every connected carrier, so you don't need a separate plugin per courier

How many shipments are included on each plan is described on the pricing page.

DHL Tracking Inside WooCommerce Orders

Keep customers informed after checkout instead of answering "where is my parcel" emails. Once a label is created, SmartyParcel pulls DHL statuses directly from the carrier and shows them in the WooCommerce order — from pickup at your warehouse through customs clearance to delivery at the recipient's door.

Used as a DHL tracking tool for your store, it helps you:

  • Cut down WISMO ("where is my order") support requests
  • Spot parcels stuck in transit or held at customs before the customer complains
  • Give buyers one tracking page instead of sending them to the carrier's site

Customers can also check an air waybill number on our public DHL Express tracking page.

DHL Express WooCommerce integration: what you need to get started

DHL Express works on an account basis, so the DHL WooCommerce integration starts with your own DHL Express credentials. Add your DHL Express API access in SmartyParcel, enable the carrier in the plugin settings and add DHL Express to a WooCommerce shipping zone — labels are then created on your own contract and with your negotiated rates.

API access is issued for your DHL Express account number: request it through the DHL Developer Portal (MyDHL API) or via your DHL account manager. Note that this integration covers DHL Express, the international express courier service — DHL eCommerce and DHL Paket are separate DHL divisions with their own accounts.

After that the daily routine is the same for every order: pick an order, create the label, print it, hand the parcel to the courier and watch the statuses in the order card. No second cabinet, no manual copying of addresses, no separate tracking spreadsheet.

Linking the store to the platform is covered step by step in How to connect a WooCommerce store to SmartyParcel, and the access keys guide explains how to give your team access without sharing one login.

Customs data for DHL Express international shipments

Most DHL Express orders from a WooCommerce store cross a border, so besides the address the shipment needs customs data. For goods (not documents) DHL Express requires a commercial invoice listing each item's description, quantity, value and country of origin, ideally with an HS code. With DHL Paperless Trade the invoice is transmitted electronically together with the shipment data, so you don't have to print copies and attach them to the parcel — check that the service is enabled on your DHL Express account.

To have everything ready by the time the label is created:

  • Fill in weight and dimensions for every product in WooCommerce — they drive both the rate at checkout and the label
  • Use product names a customs officer can understand ("cotton T-shirt", not "Summer Drop #3")
  • Decide who pays duties and taxes: DAP (the recipient pays on delivery) or DDP (you pay, and the buyer gets no surprise bill)
  • State the chosen option in your shipping policy, so customs fees don't turn into a refused parcel

FAQs

Is the DHL Express plugin for WooCommerce free?

The plugin itself is free to install from WordPress.org. It works with a SmartyParcel account, which has both a free plan and usage-based plans depending on the number of shipments and carriers you use — current conditions are on the pricing page. DHL Express shipping itself is charged by the carrier under your own account.

Do I need my own DHL Express account to ship from WooCommerce?

Yes. DHL Express works on an account basis, so you add your DHL Express API credentials in SmartyParcel. Shipping labels are then created on your own contract with your negotiated rates, and the store side stays the same: pick an order, create the label, print it, track the parcel.

Where do I get DHL Express API credentials?

API access is issued for your DHL Express account number. Request it through the DHL Developer Portal (MyDHL API) or via your DHL account manager, then paste the credentials into SmartyParcel and enable DHL Express in the plugin settings.

Can customers choose a DHL pickup point at checkout?

Yes. The plugin adds a DHL shipping method with a searchable pickup point picker to the WooCommerce checkout, so the customer selects the exact location and it is saved with the order — no guessing the address from a free-text field. Which points are offered depends on the DHL network in the destination country; courier delivery to a home or office address stays available as well.

Can I create and print DHL shipping labels in bulk?

Yes. You can generate a DHL Express shipping label for a single order in one click, or select a batch of orders and print labels for all of them at once — much faster than filling them in one by one in the carrier's cabinet. The same queue can contain orders of other carriers connected in the plugin.

How does DHL tracking work inside WooCommerce?

After a label is created, SmartyParcel pulls DHL statuses and shows them in the WooCommerce order, so you and the customer can follow the parcel without going to the carrier's site. Buyers can also check a number on our public DHL Express tracking page, which noticeably reduces "where is my order" requests to your support.

Why is DHL Express not showing as a shipping method at WooCommerce checkout?

Usually it is the shipping zone setup: DHL Express appears only for addresses that match a zone where it is added as a shipping method. Check that the customer's country belongs to that zone, that DHL Express is enabled in the plugin settings, that your DHL Express credentials are saved and active in SmartyParcel, and that products have weight and dimensions — without them the rate cannot be calculated.

Which countries can I ship to with DHL Express from WooCommerce?

DHL Express provides time-definite express delivery to over 220 countries and territories, so in practice the limit is your own shipping policy, not the carrier. In WooCommerce you create a shipping zone for the countries you sell to and add DHL Express as a shipping method for that zone only, keeping domestic orders on a local carrier.
