GLS Plugin for WooCommerce: Rates, Service Points, Labels and Tracking

SmartyParcel is a logistics platform with a WooCommerce plugin that connects your store to GLS. Install it, add a sender, and the plugin takes over the routine: shipping rates at checkout, a GLS Service Point picker your customers can search, shipping label creation in one click and parcel statuses right inside your WooCommerce orders. GLS delivers across Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Italy, Spain and other European markets — and you run all of it from the WordPress admin instead of the carrier's cabinet. Along with GLS you can enable InPost, PostNord, Nova Post, Ukrposhta, Meest, DHL and Nova Global in the same plugin.

How to connect GLS to WooCommerce?

To start shipping orders with GLS from your WooCommerce store, you need three simple steps.

Install and activate the SmartyParcel WooCommerce plugin

Connect the plugin to your SmartyParcel account

Enable GLS and add the GLS Service Point shipping method

GLS Service Point Picker at WooCommerce Checkout

Across Poland, Germany, Czechia and most other GLS markets a large share of shoppers prefer to collect an order from a nearby pickup point instead of waiting for a courier. The plugin adds a GLS Service Point shipping method with a searchable point picker directly to your WooCommerce checkout page, so the customer chooses the exact location in a couple of clicks.

At checkout your customers can choose:

  • A GLS Service Point (ParcelShop) near home or work
  • Courier delivery to a home or office address
  • A different carrier, if you have several shipping methods enabled in the same zone

The selected point is saved with the order, so the data is already correct when the shipping label is created — no manual clean-up and no parcels sent to the wrong location. Fewer failed deliveries, fewer "which point did I pick" tickets, and a checkout that looks familiar to European buyers.

Create and Print GLS Shipping Labels from WooCommerce

Stop retyping order data into the carrier's cabinet. The plugin pulls customer and order details straight from WooCommerce and turns them into a ready-to-print GLS shipping label, cutting label creation time by roughly 10x compared to filling everything in by hand.

Single-order label

Open any order and generate its GLS label on the spot — sender, recipient, service point, weight and dimensions are filled in automatically from the order data.

Bulk label printing

Select a batch of orders and print GLS labels for all of them at once. For a store dispatching dozens or hundreds of parcels a day this turns an hour of routine into a couple of minutes before the driver arrives.

The same plugin creates labels for InPost, PostNord, Nova Post, Ukrposhta, Meest and DHL Express, so a mixed order queue is processed in one place.

GLS Shipping Rates and Zones in WooCommerce

Quote a delivery cost that matches reality instead of a flat fee that either scares buyers away or eats your margin. GLS is added as a shipping method inside a WooCommerce shipping zone, so you control exactly which countries see it, and the plugin calculates the price for that specific parcel — weight, dimensions and destination included.

GLS shipping rates in WooCommerce mean:

  • Separate zones for domestic and cross-border GLS delivery, each with its own pricing
  • Different costs for service point pickup and courier delivery, calculated automatically
  • One plugin handling shipping calculation for every connected carrier, so you don't need a separate plugin per courier

How many shipments are included on each plan is described on the pricing page.

GLS Tracking Inside WooCommerce Orders

Keep customers informed after checkout instead of answering "where is my parcel" emails. Once a label is created, SmartyParcel pulls GLS statuses directly from the carrier and shows them in the WooCommerce order — from pickup at your warehouse through to delivery or collection at the service point.

Used as a GLS tracking tool for your store, it helps you:

  • Cut down WISMO ("where is my order") support requests
  • Spot parcels stuck in transit before the customer complains
  • Give buyers one tracking page instead of sending them to the carrier's site

Customers can also check a parcel number on our public GLS tracking page, which works for GLS Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Romania and other country branches.

GLS WooCommerce integration: what you need to get started

Service points and shipping options work right after you enable GLS in the plugin settings and add the GLS Service Point method to a WooCommerce shipping zone — SmartyParcel handles the carrier connection, so you don't have to register API credentials just to show delivery options at checkout.

If you already ship under your own GLS agreement, add your GLS API credentials in SmartyParcel. Labels will then be created on your own contract with your negotiated pricing, while the store side stays the same: pick an order, create the label, print, track.

Step-by-step screenshots are in the guide How to connect GLS shipping method to WooCommerce, and linking the store to the platform is covered in How to connect a WooCommerce store to SmartyParcel.

The best solution I have found - and these are not just words. The interface is intuitive, the functionality is on par with premium solutions, and most importantly, everything works reliably like swisswatches. I'd also like to the support team. They respond very quickly, providing real solutions rather than just formal replies. You can tell they care and are genuinely interested in their users' success.

FAQs

Is the GLS plugin for WooCommerce free?

The plugin itself is free to install from WordPress.org. It works with a SmartyParcel account, which has both a free plan and usage-based plans depending on the number of shipments and carriers you use — current conditions are on the pricing page.

Which countries does the GLS WooCommerce integration cover?

GLS operates across Europe, and SmartyParcel supports its main markets — Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy and Spain. In WooCommerce you create a shipping zone for the countries you ship to and add GLS as a shipping method for that zone only.

Can customers choose a GLS Service Point at checkout?

Yes. The plugin adds a GLS Service Point shipping method with a searchable point picker to the WooCommerce checkout page, so the customer selects the exact pickup point and it is saved with the order — no guessing the address from a free-text field.

Can I create and print GLS shipping labels in bulk?

Yes. You can generate a GLS shipping label for a single order in one click, or select a batch of orders and print labels for all of them at once — much faster than filling them in one by one in the carrier's cabinet.

Do I need a GLS API key or my own GLS contract?

To show GLS Service Points and shipping options at checkout you do not need your own credentials — the plugin works through the SmartyParcel connection. If you already ship under your own GLS agreement, add your GLS API credentials in SmartyParcel and labels will be created on your own contract with your negotiated pricing.

How does GLS tracking work for customers?

After a label is created, SmartyParcel pulls GLS statuses and shows them in the WooCommerce order, so the customer can follow the parcel without going to the carrier's site. Buyers can also check a number on our public GLS tracking page, which noticeably reduces "where is my order" requests to your support.
